Pink Spring

Have you noticed the mornings getting lighter, and the evenings longer? No? Well, I think they are. It’s subtle, but signs that spring is on its way are here at last. I think they are bit more noticeable in the country than the city. I was in the Cotswolds yesterday at a house and saw a huge carpet of celandines about to flower under a stand of beech trees. I’m afraid I didn’t have my camera, but it did make me happy.

With thoughts of spring in mind I decided to repaint my sitting room this weekend. It’s now pink… Farrow & Ball ‘Pink Ground’ to be precise.

Okay, it’s a bit like living inside a marshmallow and I am not entirely sure what I think about my new pink room. Still, it’s very good for the season. I think that is the pleasure of paint. It’s easy to change and in this instance a good way to create a new spring in your step.

The sharp eyed amongst you will notice a Joseph Frank covered Bloomsbury Library Chair in the corner of the room.  Another good way to cheer oneself up.

That’s Svenskt Tenn, or I’m a monkey’s aunt. And when were you last in Stockholm?

i love it! i have always fantasized about this color in the f&b booklet. even once went so far as to buy a little pot of it and make some tests. your living rm now looks so warm but not at all girly. meanwhile the chair is gorgeous! btw if you ever find yourself in or near watertown, massachusetts (hometown of john derian, best lemjuns outside armenia, etc) you have to go to a fabric remainder place called–yes–freddy farkels. great and everything costs only a dollar, or maybe two. i found very cool screenprinted canvas from the 70s AND my friend stephanie found amazing swaths of joseph frank…!

Ben, my mum says do you mean aconites under your tree?! 😉

heheheheh Laura SS is ALWAYS right George!!

I am sure that is exactly what I mean!

Love the pink. I want figure out a way to get a pink stripe room in my house.

The color of my moms living room! Your’s somehow looks SO much more elegant. When can I move in?

All of a sudden I like my pink room. Never been too sure about it, and could not be bothered to repaint again. However, yours looks lovely, and I am seeing mine in a new light.

It’s lovely! I am sitting in a Pink Ground room at the moment too. LIke you, I was a bit unsure, but keeping everything else ‘masculine’ really helped (grey, black and green accessories). It’s got a lovely warm glow, a pleasure to be in, especially in this grey Edinburgh climate. A x
